Child Support/Custodian Visitation

When a divorce involves the well-being of children, in most family cases, the court determines the child’s best interest regarding the following:

  • Conservatorship
  • Child Support
  • Visitation

Primary Managing Conservator:  The parent who is given custody by the court.
Possessory Conservator: The parent who is given visitation rights in joint custody situations.
Either Parent: When child support is mandated, it is established and awarded per statutory guidelines.

We make sure our clients understand their options, rights, duties, and the court’s expectations in child custody cases.
Child Support Enforcement

In most divorce matters, child custody, child support, and visitation are subject to new laws and new law interpretations. Under the family law system, decisions about child support are in the best interest of the children. No matter what county you reside in, if you are the non-primary possessory parent ordered to pay child support, you are required to pay a percentage of your income to support the child or children. We can help you get in compliance with the law and stay there. If you were ordered to pay child support but your situation has change because of a job loss, illness, or other circumstances, let us help you.
Paternity and Fathers' Rights

When the parties do not agree on the identity of the child’s biological father, paternity disputes are inevitable. We can help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a parent. It is important for a child to have a meaningful relationship with his or her father, but establishing paternity to allow the child to receive financial resources is also necessary for the child to flourish. If you have been sued for paternity or are seeking to establish paternity for a minor child, do not delay. We help our clients understand the time restrictions that limit a paternity suit when seeking retroactive child support.

The creation of a family is amazing, and adoption is one of the most rewarding experiences in law. We represent clients who wish to build a family through adoption. Because there are many legalities associated with the adoption process, it is essential that you have a skilled, experienced attorney handling your case. We will help you protect your rights as a future parent as well as the interest of the child you are welcoming into your family.
